Al CeruloAmerican percussionist Al Cerulo has been praised for his theatrical and energetic performances that have amazed audiences around the world. Mr. Cerulo has performed with groups such as the New Jersey Percussion Ensemble, Sospeso Ensemble, Either/Or, and the Philadelphia Virtuoso Society in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Zankel Hall, NJPAC, Merkin Hall and Copper's Union. He has worked along side great composers such as Pierre Boulez, George Crumb, Mario Davidowsky, Michael Gordon, Art Krieger, Wayne Peterson, Steve Reich, Harvey Sollberger, Peter Westerguard, and Rolv Yttrehus. Most recently, he is one of the founding members of Mantra Percussion as well as the Beaten Paths Percussion Duo. As a recording artist, Al Cerulo can be heard on Nexus, UTF, and Bridgewater recording labels. Some of his most recent recording include Mario Davidowsky's Synchronisms No. 5 and Michael Fiday's Hands On! as well as Aaron Siegel's Science is Only a Sometimes Friend. Al Cerulo currently holds a masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music and degree in music education from William Paterson University. He has studied under the great tutelage of Raymond DesRoches, Peter Jarvis, Tom Kolor, Chris Lamb, Duncan Patton, Jim Preiss and Steve Schick.
